Behind the REP: No time to dull

Behind the REP: No time to dull

When life felt uncertain and the future was unclear, one determined graduate found his way into the world of Web3 and hasn’t looked back since. Meet Raji Fatai Fayokemi, known in the community as “Rolling”. Having recently graduated with a degree in Building Technology from the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Raji emerged from his final university exams in 2024 not with relief, but with worry. Like many recent graduates, he was left searching for purpose in the post-school limbo.

Then came a moment of curiosity that would change everything.

Showing Up, No Matter What

“I was in my room when I heard my neighbours talking about Social Mining. The way it had helped their lives got my attention. I just had to go and ask them what it was all about.”

From his earliest days in the community, Raji stood out for his consistency. “Where I come from, there’s a saying: No food for a lazy man. So I had to buckle up. Good mood or bad mood, I just kept pushing.”

That single step led Raji into the world of DAO Labs and Social Mining, a space where contributions are rewarded not just with tokens, but with recognition, community and impact.

Earning REP and finding purpose

Not long ago, Raji earned one of the most meaningful milestones in his Web3 journey by becoming a REP holder in Social Mining.

“I had lost hope of ever getting REP. I was even asking my friends if they could lend me theirs!” he laughs. ‘So when I saw my name on the list, I checked it three times just to be sure.’

To Raji, REP isn’t just a badge; it’s a symbol of trust and a deeper bond with the ecosystem. 'It means I’m part of something greater than myself, and that my contributions are appreciated.'

A Turning Point: From Tasks to Community

For Raji, the real transformation came when he moved beyond merely completing tasks and began to forge connections. “I had a moment when I had completed a few challenging tasks, and then I started to help newcomers and share insights with the community.
The feedback and support I received made me realise that this isn’t just about rewards. It's about growth, connection and learning." That turning point solidified his mindset. Social Mining isn’t just a side gig; it’s a place to grow.

Advice for Newcomers: “No Time to Dull”

For those who are undecided about getting involved in Web3 or social mining, Raji has this to say: “It’s not just about likes or followers here; your creativity and effort turn into real value. You can work from home, your office, or anywhere else. Don't be dull. Wake up!”
He emphasises the importance of stepping up and engaging: 'You'll find opportunity, flexibility and a supportive community that will help you grow both personally and professionally.'

What’s Next? Leading by Example

Looking ahead, Raji is especially excited about the ongoing ILO (Initial Labour Offering) experience in DAO Labs. “It’s a great opportunity for engagement and impact, even without the need for initial capital. Having grown up in this field, I’m now eager to mentor newcomers, share my expertise, and produce content that helps others find their own path.”

Raji’s story is one of perseverance, energy, and transformation. After feeling lost after graduation, he became a respected contributor in Web3. His journey is a reminder that success starts with showing up and staying consistent.

‘Social Mining feels like family,’ he says with a grin. Like any good family, he’s ready to help the next generation succeed. Join the Social Mining community today and discover the endless possibilities that await!
